The James H. Oliver, Jr. Institute for Coastal Plain Science (ICPS) at Georgia Southern University focuses on interdisciplinary research and education related to the diverse ecosystems of Georgia's Coastal Plain. The Institute supports sustainable resource management, environmental conservation, and economic growth through partnerships, research, and educational programs. Named after the renowned scientist Dr. James H. Oliver, Jr., ICPS offers degrees and minors in environmental science and sustainability, providing students with hands-on experience and real-world applications. The Institute also maintains and utilizes extensive natural history collections to further research and understanding of the region.
