Adrienne L. Cohen, Ph.D., MPA, LSW, is an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. She is a social gerontologist who worked in the field for more than 20 years, including 10 years at the Vermont Department of Health. Cohen primarily teaches courses related to aging, and her research interests include rural aging, home- and community-based service structures in rural areas, program evaluation, support networks, and qualitative research.

Both her master’s thesis and her doctoral dissertation involved formal and informal support systems for rural elders. She is currently working on a qualitative study that looks at predisposing factors leading to nursing home admissions for rural, suburban, and urban elders.
