About
Prof. Graham joined Georgia Southern University in 1989 and retired in 2022.

Dr. Graham completed her BS and MA degrees in Speech Communication from Eastern Illinois University and her PhD in Communication Studies (1991) at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She joined the faculty in the Department of Communication Arts at Georgia Southern College in 1988. While at Georgia Southern, Beverly co-authored three book chapters and one textbook. She has also authored 10 articles and made many presentations in state, regional, national, and international organizations. Her research focus has been in pedagogy and health communication. Dr. Graham was a Co-Investigator for a National Institute of Health grant focusing on raising awareness of health disparities impacting rural areas of the Southeast. In association with the grant, she was an instructor in the DESRE (Disparities Elimination Summer Research Experience) program where students spent six weeks in Southeast Georgia immersed in full-time rural health disparities elimination research and training. While at Georgia Southern, she participated on several dissertation committees and mentored undergraduate research projects that were accepted by Georgia Southern University undergraduate programs and by the Southern States Communication Association. During her time at Georgia Southern, she has served as Assistant Department Chair for Communication Arts and as Sequence Coordinator for the Communication Studies area. For these several contributions to her field and to the University, Dr. Graham has earned the title of Associate Professor of Communication Arts Emerita.*
