About

Dr. Trupe came to Georgia Southern in 1998 after teaching geology at Appalachian State University. His research interests are structural geology and tectonics, with particular emphasis on the tectonothermal evolution of the southern Appalachians. Topics of special interest include the petrology of fault-related rocks, metamorphic petrology, and the geometry and timing of Paleozoic faulting in the North Carolina-Tennessee Blue Ridge. He also has interests in the geology of the southeastern Georgia Coastal Plain, and is involved in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Dr. Trupe’s teaching interests are structural geology, field methods, and physical geology, and he has served as a research advisor for numerous undergraduate senior thesis projects.
