Personal profile
About
I currently serve as Professor and Director of the Master's of Education in Higher Education Administration program at Georgia Southern University. Prior to coming to Georgia Southern University, I served in college administration, working in the student affairs areas of residential life, new student orientation, and student activities.
My research interests lie in the preparation and professional development of graduate students and new professionals in student affairs/higher education leadership, with a particular focus both the formal and informal ways through which this preparation and development occurs. These include things such mentorship, supervision, technology integration, the application of professional standards, and professional/academic perceptions of self and others.
I am an active member in several professional organizations, including the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). I have served as a Faculty in Residence for ACPA’s Standing Committee for Graduate Students and New Professionals, on the directorate of ACPA's Commission for Professional Preparation, and on the directorate of ACPA's Standing Committee for Men and Masculinities. I am a frequent presenter at the ACPA national convention and was a recipient of the 2020 Annuit Coeptis Senior Professional Award. In 2011, I received the Standing Committee for Men and Masculinities' Outstanding Award for Research.
