Prof. Whitford joined Georgia Southern University in 2006 and retired in 2024.

Dr. Whitford earned a BA in English (1968) from the University of Delaware, an MEd in Reading (1980) from Arcadia University, and an EdD in Educational Administration and Supervision (1989) from Rutgers University. She retired following a distinguished career as a professor of teacher education and education leadership. Dr. Whitford’s scholarship includes an extensive record of peer-reviewed publications and refereed conference paper presentations at international/national conferences addressing Professional Development School partnerships as a vital asset to effective teacher preparation. She has a strong record of university administrative service, including Armstrong Atlantic University’s Vice President and Dean of Faculty (2006-2010), Central Connecticut State University’s (CCSU) Interim Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs (2004-2006), and CCSU’s Dean of the School of Education and Professional Studies (2000-2004). Dr. Whitford presents a consistent record of quality performance as a faculty member at Georgia Southern and is deserving of the title Professor Emerita of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development.*
