About
Gulver Karamemis is an Assistant Professor of Operations Management at Georgia Southern University, Parker College of Business. She holds a Ph.D. (Operations Management, University of Florida, 2012), a Master of Statistics (University of Florida, 2011), an MSc (Industrial and Systems Engineering, University of Florida, 2008), and a B.Sc. (Industrial Engineering, Istanbul Technical University, 2007). She previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management at the University of Rhode Island prior to joining Georgia Southern University in 2020.
Dr. Karamemis' research focuses on outsourcing/sourcing decisions and competition. Her current research interests include extending economic models in designing optimal channel structures, sustainable operations, and social networks. She has recently published articles in such journals as Production and Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, Decision Support Systems, and Journal of Cleaner Production. She served as a dissertation committee member for four doctoral students, assisted with the dissertation of an external PhD student, and supervised undergraduate students. She is the recipient of the Parker College of Business Faculty Enrichment Award in 2023, Summer Research Grant in 2022, and the Georgia Southern University Office of Research’s Travel Grant (the only recipient from the College of Business) in 2022.
Dr. Karamemis teaches operations management, international supply chain systems, logistics and intermodal transportation supply chains and supply chain analytics at the undergraduate level, applied multivariate methods, and fundamentals of supply chain management at the graduate level. She is the recipient of the University of Rhode Island, College of Business Administration, Outstanding New Teacher Award in 2017.
Karamemis serves as an ad-hoc referee for Production and Operations Management, Decision Sciences Journal, and European Journal of Operational Research, among others. She has been a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), Southeast Decision Sciences Institute (SEDSI), Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society (MSOM), and Production and Operations Management Society (POMS).
