Biography, Disciplines and Teaching Interests
Dr. Chopak-Foss is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Community Health in the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health. Dr. Chopak-Foss received her Ph.D. and M.S. from Pennsylvania State University in Health Education and B.S. degree in Physical Education from the University of Delaware.  
Dr. Chopak-Foss has over 28 years of experience in the academic setting.  She has been on the forefront of curriculum development for both undergraduate and graduate education in public health and has developed over 10 different classes during her professional career.
She currently servies in the position MPH program director for the college.  Her research interests have focused on a variety of Maternal and Child Health Issues including: improving health literacy among children and adolescents, improving breastfeeding duration and exlusivity in low-income women, education on safe sleep for newborns, antecedents for adolescent pregnancy and early pubertal timing, eating disorders among athletes and, health and sexual health curriculum development for K-12.
Dr. Chopak-Foss is a Fellow in the American School Health Association and a past member of APHA.  Her current professional affiliations include The Society for Public Health Education, the Georgia Chapter of the Society for Public Health Education, the Georgia Public Health Association and Eta Sigma Gamma, National Professional Health Science honorary.
