Dr. Zanetos earned her AAS in Nursing Technology (1976) from Columbus State Community College, her BSN in Nursing (2006) and her MSN in Nursing (2010) from Capital University, and her DNP in Nursing Practice (2013) from Duquesne University. She served the University System of Georgia for more than ten years, with more than 7 years of service in the Waters College of Health Professions and 3 years at the College of Coastal Georgia. Her research and teaching philosophy aligns with the mission statement of the Waters College of Health Professions: To prepare future health professionals through academic excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration while advancing knowledge through scholarship and serving culturally diverse communities. Dr. Zanetos has collaborated with colleagues to develop, disseminate, and strategically align research and courses with Georgia Southern University's five Strategic Pillars, potentiating a global impact on health care disparities in vulnerable populations, reflected in multiple peer-reviewed presentations and publications. She is a member of The United Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Georgia, Georgia Nurse Educators Association, and Sigma Theta Tau honor society for nurses. Dr. Zanetos also currently serves as a member of the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses Task Force for Academia and the Task Force for Mathematics in Nursing, as well as a member of the Fortis College Nursing Program Advisory Board. For these contributions to the institution and to her discipline, Dr. Joanne Zanetos has earned the title of Associate Professor Emerita of Nursing.*
