Mr. Cook received an AB in Political Science (1984) from the University of Georgia and an MA in Political Science (1991) from Georgia Southern University. He served as an instructor of American Government at Georgia Southern University for more
than 30 years. In his time at Georgia Southern, Mr. Cook inspired thousands of students each year to become more active and engaged citizens through his dynamic and relatable teaching style in American Government. Mr. Cook regularly shouldered the responsibility of a heavy teaching load to ensure that all students had access to the required American Government course. He
was nominated several times for Professor of the Year and for other awards for excellence in instruction. As student needs evolved, Mr. Cook embraced the opportunity to offer on-line courses for our students and became one of our most effective online instructors of American Government. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Cook served on numerous department and University
committees focused on student success and curriculum development, in addition to serving as the faculty advisor for Pi Sigma Alpha and the Political Science Club. Mr. Cook's effectiveness both inside and outside the classroom is evidenced by the countless Georgia Southern alumni who credit him with being a transformative figure in their college experience.
