About

Dr. Waterfield is an Assistant Professor of Public Health Informatics and Health Administration. She received Doctor of Public Health in Public Health Leadership from Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University.  She also has a bachelor’s degree in Community Health Education and MBA with an emphasis in Health Services Administration from Georgia Southern University.  Dr. Waterfield has over 15 years of experience in health administration, marketing, and education. She has worked for major medical centers and non-profit organizations, as well as domestic and international health organizations. She has experience that ranges from bioethics to volunteer management to ethics case coordinator.  During her career in health administration, she has advocated for Home Health services and assisted with the recruitment of nurses from various parts of the world. As a faculty member, she teaches courses in public health administration, informatics, and health education and promotion.  Her main research focuses are the Public Health Workforce, Health Informatics, and the effects of the social determinants of health on public health practice.  She is also currently working closely with Dr. Gulzar Shah and the other TRIUMPH consortium members
