About

Michael Donahue received the Ph.D. in Social Science from Michigan State University in 1983. He has more than 15 years in academic leadership and five years as a police officer and Director of Planning and Research for the Savannah Police Department. He has written research articles and essays in a variety of publications, including the Police Chief, Justice Quarterly, the Law Enforcement Executive Forum, Police Practice and Research, the Justice Professional, the Journal of Criminal Justice, the American Journal of Police, and Police Studies: An International Journal. He also has contributed chapters to several books.
 
In addition, Michael has been a university teacher and professional consultant for 30 years, having participated in over 30 research grants, and authoring or co-authoring more than two dozen research reports. His research interests include the police use of deadly force, police ethics, the death penalty, law enforcement leadership and management and, most recently, cyber criminology. Prof. Donahue retired on December 31, 2019 and was awarded emeritus status.
