Dr. Donahue received his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of North CarolinaCharlotte (1974), his M.C.J. in Criminal Justice &om the University of South Carolina-Columbia (1977) and his Ph.D. in Social Science from Michigan State University (1983). Professor Donahue began his career at Armstrong State University in 1982 as a part-time instructor and became an assistant professor in 1985, an associate professor in 1993, and a professor in 1997. For over 30 years at Armstrong State University and Georgia Southern University, he was a dedicated teacher who taught numerous courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels with specializations in policing, research methods, and ethics. In addition, he provided over 15 years of academic leadership in various positions, including Department Chair, Public Service Center Director, Executive Director of Regional Education, Assistant Vice President for External Affairs, Executive Vice President of the Armstrong Atlantic State University Foundation, and Vice President for External Affairs. Professor Donahue also served for five years as a police officer and Director of Planning and Research for the Savannah Police Department. Over the length of his career, he was a professional consultant, participated in over 30 research grants, authored or co-authored more than two dozen research reports, and published book chapters and peer-reviewed manuscripts on topics including traffic enforcement, problem-oriented policing, community-oriented policing, police ethics, police use of force, law enforcement leadership and management, and the death penalty. For his numerous distinguished contributions to the department, college, University, and profession, Dr. Michael Donahue has earned the title of Professor Emeritus of Criminal Justice and Criminology.*
