His technical background includes serving as a research scientist at the Boeing Company, Director of the Quality Enhancement Plan at South University, a Technology Transfer Specialist with the University of Illinois, an Associate Professor at Olivet Nazarene University, and running an organizational consulting firm. Gerbsch holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri and held a post-doctoral appointment with the Washington University School of Medicine, Department of Surgery.
He has been an active volunteer for several professional societies, serving as President of the Savannah chapters of Project Management Institute and American Society for Quality, and a member of the Savannah, GA Chamber of Commerce Manufacturing Council Board.
