Prof. Gee joined Georgia Southern University in 1995 and retired in 2024.

Dr. Gee earned an ASN in Nursing (1980) from Armstrong State College, a BSCJ in Criminal Justice from Georgia Southern College, a BSN (1981) and MSN (1991) in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia, and an Ph.D. in Nursing (2005) from Emory University. A native of Bulloch County and a faculty member traversing three decades, she has watched and been a part of many of the changes Georgia Southern has experienced. Dr. Gee has served the nursing and education professions in many capacities and first joined the Georgia Southern faculty in 1993 as adjunct faculty and as a full-time Clinical Instructor in 1995. She has provided significant service at all levels of the university, within the nursing profession, and in the community by serving as a board member for several local organizations, including Ogeechee Area Hospice and The Lodge at Bethany. Dr. Gee has been active in several Professional Nursing organizations, including the Georgia Association for Nursing Education (GANE), Southern Nursing Research Society, American Heart Association, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, American Red Cross shelter operations, and Sigma Theta Tau. She held the offices of Advisor, Counselor, and various committee chairs in the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society, Mu Kappa chapter on the Statesboro Campus and on the Board of the consolidated Savannah and Statesboro Rho Psi chapter. She has authored or co-authored peer reviewed journal publications and has had invited presentations internationally, nationally, and locally. She served as reviewer for The Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing, and her expertise as a Registered Nurse in acute care and community settings has contributed to curriculum changes and course development. Dr Gee worked with the statewide RN-BSN consortium on curriculum and course re-design. Her knowledge of clinical nursing was particularly valuable in the development of the nursing simulation campus clinicals. Dr. Gee has served as a mentor to numerous undergraduate students and on several DNP project committees. She was recognized for her excellence in teaching with the College of Health and Human Sciences Award for Teaching (2016) and the Excellence in Contribution to Baccalaureate Nursing Program (1993) awards. For these many accomplishments and distinguished contributions to the department, the college, the university, our students, her profession and community, Dr. Rose Mary Gee has earned the title of Professor Emerita of Nursing.*
