Dr. Beck joined the faculty of Georgia Southern in 2000. He previously served in the US Peace Corps, worked in Migrant Health and Education, and taught Middle School. He holds degrees from Cornell University, the University of North Carolina - Greensboro, and the University of Georgia. He teaches courses across multiple academic programs, especially Teaching of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse students, and Elementary and Middle Grades Education. His research focuses upon Migrant and Immigrant Education, Controversial Young Adult and Children's Literature, and Education Policy.
