Prof. Navaee joined Georgia Southern University in 1993 and retired in 2024.

Dr. Navaee earned his BS (1980) and MS (1983) in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University and A&M College and his PhD (1989) in Engineering from Clemson University. Dr. Navaee started his affiliation with Georgia Southern as an assistant professor in the Engineering Studies program in September 1993. He rose through the professorial ranks and was promoted to the rank of full professor in August 2004. Dr. Navaee has served as a professor in the Civil Engineering and Construction Department in the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing since August 2013 and has a total of thirty years of service to Georgia Southern. Dr. Navaee has a long-established record of teaching, scholarship, and service at the University. During his tenure, he served as the Associate Dean of the College of Science and Technology for seven years from August 2005 to June 2012. During this period, from 2006 to 2009, he also served as the Director of PLTW (Project Lead The Way) program, a national non-profit organization promoting STEM education in the P-12 classroom. He additionally served as the Interim Chair of the Civil Engineering Department during the 2012-2013 academic year. Dr. Navaee was selected as Georgia Southern’s first Faculty Fellow in fall 2001 and was later chosen as one of the faculty members from the University System of Georgia to serve as one of the Governor’s Teaching Fellows in 2002. During his tenure at Georgia Southern, Dr. Navaee published twenty-two peer-reviewed conference and journal manuscripts and supervised the research activities of undergraduate and graduate students. The research projects of the students were highlighted in Student Research Symposiums at the College level, as well as in several engineering conferences. For these contributions to Georgia Southern, his students, and his field, Dr. Navaee is deserving of the title Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering and Construction.*
