Dr. Hendrix returned to clinical practice in 2011 and then returned to academia in 2013, at Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Hendrix obtained tenure in 2018 and was promoted to Associate Professor at that time. Dr. Hendrix added the role of BSN Program Director to her responsibilities in 2018 and has been instrumental in promoting excellence and student success in that role, first on the Statesboro campus and then for the past two years on the Armstrong campus in Savannah. Dr. Hendrix’ post tenure review earned her the title of Full Professor in 2024 as she announced her retirement. Due to her love of emergency nursing, Dr. Hendrix’ research continued to investigate the evidence-based care provided in the emergency and trauma setting. Her published work has been disseminated widely, in 18 countries and numerous nursing journals during her academic career. She has mentored many students at the doctorate level as each pursued research topics to improve healthcare for all. Students at all levels consistently reported a favorable experience in her classroom, citing a knowledge of real- life situations in nursing as a main factor. Dr. Hendrix’s service to the University, the Waters College of Health Professions, and the School of Nursing is extensive. Dr. Hendrix’ teaching, service, and scholarly accomplishments at Georgia Southern University have been especially impactful on her students as well as colleagues. The summation of her work makes her recognition as Associate Professor Emeritus of Nursing well deserved.*
