U. S. Army as infantryman.  Inducted January 1968.  Served with the 1st Bn 14th Infantry in the Republic of Viet Nam. Thereafter, taught company operations at the Army Infantry School for 1 ½ years.  Separated from active duty in April 1972.

Practiced as a CPA in Atlanta, GA, for seventeen years; firm principal for fourteen years. Primary emphasis on early-stage ventures.

First faculty appointment: Indiana University SE, August, 1998. Joined the faculty at University of Louisville August, 2001. Accepted faculty appointment at Georgia Southern University, August, 2008.
