Prof. Norton joined Georgia Southern University in 2008 and retired in 2022.

— Biography from the 2022 Spring Commencement program —

Dr. Norton earned his BBA in Accounting (1979) from Georgia State University, an MBA (1992) from Kennesaw State University, and his Ph.D. in Strategic Management (1998) from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Norton spent 17 years as a licensed CPA in Atlanta prior to returning to academia. As a faculty member, Dr. Norton came to Georgia Southern as an associate professor in 2008 after holding tenuretrack positions at Indiana University Southeast and the University of Louisville. During his 14 years at Georgia Southern University, Dr. Norton served as faculty advisor to multiple student organizations, taught a plethora of well-received courses across a broad spectrum of the management discipline, and was the recipient of the 2019 Bank of America Faculty Award within the Parker College of Business. For these and numerous other contributions to the department, college University, and profession, Dr. William I. Norton, Jr. is deserving of the title of Associate Professor Emeritus of Management.*
