Abstract

A dual-element monopole on an FR-4 substrate with a partial ground plane is realized. The fractional bandwidth is simulated to be 36.0%. Two modes of radiation are shown with an omnidirectional mode and directional mode. The omnidirectional mode shows little front-to-back ratio with a realized gain of around 1.0 dBi. The directional mode has a front-to-back ratio of 10.5 dB with a peak realized gain of 2.3 dBi in the forward direction.
