Abstract

Photovoice is a participatory action research methodology used widely in public health and in a limited way in counselor education and counseling. Counselors-in-training (CIT) were invited to participate in a photovoice study during their last internship course. Fifteen counselors-in-training acted as co-researchers and shared photographs and captions to best answer the research question, “What is the experience of counselors-in-training during internship?” Participants in this study were divided into two groups, and these groups identified themes of feeling humbled, the importance of self-care, a balance in the chaos and gratitude and chaos, currently waiting and choose your own path.
