Abstract

A size reduced dual-element dipole with a kr of 0.8 is realized. Two distinct modes of operation are shown being: dipole mode and Yagi mode. Dipole mode shows a consistent forward and backward realized gain of 1.3 dBi to 1.5 dBi across the lower and upper dipole resonance. At Yagi mode a peak realized gain of 6.3 dBi is observed in the forward direction. The front-to-back ratio is recorded to be 14.4 dB. The method of size reduction shows the bandwidth can still be improved and the different modes are still observed.
