Abstract

Computational studies of transient three-dimensional supersonic flows over a wing are carried out using the large eddy simulation (LES) approach. The studies concern the understanding of the effect of Mach number on the flow field, aerodynamic coefficients and aeroacoustics. Numerical computations are carried out for five different Mach numbers, M=2.0, M=2.5, M=3.0, M=3.5 and M=4.0. The results show that the Mach number affects the aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of the supersonic wing.
