Abstract
In this symposium, a group of multiethnic researchers and practitioners explore 19 programs of research in which culturally relevant inquiries were used to explore the life of schools, families, and communities in the American South and to foster equity, equality, and social justice. The audience from diverse research paradigms will be engaged in the discussion on the potentials, contributions, concerns, and future directions of culturally relevant inquiries. The purpose of this presentation is to share the characteristics and examples of emergent culturally relevant research genres and their power to transform educational research into positive social and educational change. It informs teachers, educators, educational researchers, administrators, and educational policy makers, particularly those who live and engage in culturally relevant inquiries to foster social justice in their daily lives.
