Abstract

In this chapter, you are invited to join in exercises of learning about, engaging in, and critically exploring the arts as a pedagogical tool. Here we will focus on answering three overarching questions around how integrating the arts across content areas promote academic rigor, advance cultural competence, and foster critical consciousness.  This chapter interrogates how arts integration can make schooling more enjoyable while yielding better outcomes for all students, especially for those from marginalized backgrounds.
