Abstract
This presentation discusses the juxtaposition of digital genres with traditional academic genres. In discussing the method of pairing an academic research essay with a blog, and showcasing the resulting student writing, this presentation suggests that the conjunction of the two genres increases student learning and motivation, and results in better student writing and research.
