Brief Report: Celebrity Worship, Narcissism, and Emotionality

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The current study further examined the relationships among celebrity worship, grandiose and vulnerable narcissism, and positive/negative emotionality. The goal of the study was to further examine how positive and negative emotionality related to both celebrity worship and the two subtypes of narcissism. We also assessed whether negative emotionality played a moderating role in the relationship between vulnerable narcissism and celebrity worship. The results revealed that negative emotionality was positively related to both celebrity worship and vulnerable narcissism. Furthermore, vulnerable narcissism was positively related to celebrity worship although results did not reveal that negative emotionality was a significant moderator of the relationship. Grandiose narcissism was not significantly related to negative emotionality nor celebrity worship although it was positively related to positive emotionality.
