Abstract

Counseling embraces creativity. As counselor educators, creativity is an opportunity to model vulnerability, identity, integrity, and connectedness (Palmer 2017) for students. McCarthy Journal of Asia Pacific Counseling, 7(1), 37–45 (2017) posited questions about the infusion of creativity into the counselor education classroom. This article attempts to address his questions regarding faculty views of creativity in counselor education, and how educators can enhance their knowledge and practice of innovative pedagogical classroom practices. Throughout this manuscript, the authors seek to engage with the reader about why creativity is important in the classroom, how creativity may enhance student learning, and also to provide examples for creative interventions in the classroom and in assignments.
