Abstract
Currere is a paradigm shift in the way we think about educational experience. Currere offers a method to examine the inner life in relation to the larger society in order to deepen learning and understanding. Currere is the Latin root of the word curriculum. In this sense, curriculum does not mean the syllabus, the course, the textbook, or the objectives of learning. Curriculum “reconceptualized” (Pinar, 1974/2006) as currere points to the running of the course. The phrase “the running” is a metaphor for lived experience. Currere is about exploring lived experience as it is related to deep understanding of education.
