Abstract

A dual-band, parasitic array antenna is proposed for achieving high gain within multiple frequencies while maintaining low profile design. The designed three-element (a driver and two directors in different layers) array antenna shows gains of 6.33 dB in 1.68 GHz and 7.05 dB in 1.8 GHz. The antenna width is 8.63 mm or approximately 0.046λ, where λ is calculated at 1.6 GHz, the driver resonating frequency. The dual-band characteristic of the proposed antenna design is confirmed through simulated S11, realized gain, and surface current distributions.
