Abstract

The design, prototyping, and testing of a multidirectional, closely spaced Yagi antenna is described. A driver is surrounded by eight directors. The directional radiation pattern is reconfigured using pin diode switches located at the bottom of the directors. All elements are placed closely together, and the entire array assembly is enclosed in a circle of radius 0.04lambda. The achievable realized gain in any azimuth direction is between 8.2 and 9.7 dB.
