Abstract

The effect of the overexpansion on the efficiency of bell nozzle is computationally studied using the large-eddy simulation (LES) approach. The studies are conducted for three different altitudes 0m, 5,000m and 9,000m and three different Mach numbers M=2.5, M=2.8, M=3.2. The study reveals the presence of shocks and multiple shock-shock interactions. The study also shows that the cone of the Mach number grows with the altitude.
