Abstract

<div class="line" id="line-19"> We consider a left noetherian ring R. We give a necessary conition in order that every direct sum of exact covers of complexes over R to be an exact cover. We use this to show that under additional hypotheses on the ring, every direct sum of exact covers is an exact cover if and only if the ring has &filig;nite left global dimension (this is the case for commutative Gorenstein rings and for commutative artinian rings).</div>
