Electrochemical Halogenations

Research output: Contribution to book or proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Electrochemical methods leverage the controlled generation of highly reactive halogen radicals at the anode and subsequent incorporation into organic substrates. As the demand for environmentally friendly and selective synthetic methodologies continues to rise, electrochemical halogenation emerges as a versatile and promising tool for the modern synthetic chemists. This chapter provides a concise overview of key aspects of electrochemical halogenations, including the electrochemical setup, reactions taking place at anode and cathode and regioselectivity control.
