Abstract
In this presentation, members of a faculty learning community will share their experiences in applying principles of evidence-based teaching and learning in their courses and university programs. The framework of "Evidence Based Decision Making" (EBDM) will provide the focus of the presentation and discussion. This framework will include a summary of research on the educational value and results of formative evaluation and performance assessments. Panelists will briefly describe the framework and their individual challenges and successes in using EBDM in a nursing course, a foreign language course, library programs, and a faculty development program. After these brief presentations, attendees will have a few minutes to discuss among themselves how to apply the EBDM framework in their own courses and programs, and then the panelists will lead a follow-up question and answer dialogue to share our respective insights about the process and value of EBDM applications.
