Abstract
Research on the sexual victimization of youth online has increased over the last decade, though these studies primarily focus on behavioral factors such as technology use and demographic variables. As a result, there is limited information as to the value of existing criminological theories to account for the risk of victimization. This study will consider the factors affecting the risk of online sexual harassment victimization using a sample of youth in Kentucky. The findings demonstrate that low self control and peer offending substantially effect the risk of victimization. The implications of this study for criminological theory and policy will be considered in detail.
