Abstract

A frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar is proposed for use in multiple tracking applications for operation within the ISM band (2.4 GHz to 2.5 GHz). Using Matlab, a simulated environment is created for visualizing human motion and tracking in free space. Range, velocity, and direction of-arrival (DOA) for different stationary and moving human targets are found. The proposed Matlab environment achieves tracking for multiple targets using a Range-Angle Response pattern. This pattern presents a visual environment allowing for users to actively see motion within the allowed range for the radar in real time. This system achieves a range resolution of 1.5 meters with a maximum distance of 86.4 meters and a bandwidth of 100 MHz.
