Fully-Coupled Aeroelastic Computations of High Reynolds Number Flows: An Approach Using Large-Eddy Simulation

Research output: Contribution to book or proceedingChapter

Abstract

Strong (two-way) coupling of fluid and structure presents interest to vary engineering application, particularly when the flow is turbulent and sensitive to structural motions. A CFD based algorithm, using large-eddy simulation, is developed for the numerical investigation of strong aeroelastic coupling. The present study concerns the influence of flow Reynolds number on the aeroelastic response of the structure. The results of the present research indicate that there is a strong coupling between fluid and structure. Also the results show that the aeroelastic response of the structure depends on the flow Reynolds number.
