Garment Workers’ Rights Are Women’s Rights: Suggestions for Future Studies on Support for Socially Responsible Businesses

Abstract

Presentation given at the International Textile and Apparel Association Annual Conference. Globally, 80% of garment workers are women. This conceptual paper proposes that future research studies frame garment workers' rights as women's rights as a way to increase support for socially responsible businesses. The proposition is based on current literature and the construal-level theory of psychological distance.
