Abstract
The prospect of trimming information technology (IT) costs and increasing network security would certainly delight many administrators faced with a state legislature demanding university budget cuts. Unfortunately, IT cost-cutting measures may create questions about intellectual property and privacy issues for students and faculty. In a technical communication program, IT resources intertwine with the curriculum, and if those resources erode, questions are raised about professionalizing students.
