Investigation on Swelling Property of Rubber in Asphalt

Abstract

The SBR sheet was used for simulating the swollen phenomenon of rubber in asphalt,instead of rubber powder.The structure of asphalt and rubber were characterized in the swelling experiment by SARA,XPS and DSC.The results showed that the swelling of rubber went through a fast-growing process and then achieved balance in asphalt;The SARA proved that the rubber absorbed the light component in the asphalt.Compared with the original rubber,the swollen rubber exhibited the higher glass transition temperature.In terms of the swelling limit,the rubber powder had a theoretical dosage.Take an example for 160℃,rubber arrived at the balance in theory when the dosage of rubber powder was 47%.
