Linear Subband Predictive Filters for Wideband Signals

Research output: Contribution to book or proceedingChapter

Abstract

In this paper we present the design of multiband linear subband prediction (LSP) filters for wideband signals. A wideband signal is divided into narrowband subband signals via an array of lowpass/bandpass filters. A linear prediction filter is designed for each subband channel, which has its own designated frequency interval. The filter coefficients are fixed throughout the coding process. A closed form bound on the error of prediction shows that the LSP approach is accurate for wideband signals, which is further supported by simulations.
