Abstract
Many libraries are in various stages of generative artificial intelligence (AI) exploration and adoption to align with their mission statement and service goals. Librarians recognize that information creation is a dynamic process. They understand the need to flow and adapt to the changing technology landscape in the age of artificial intelligence.
The ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education provides a robust structure for understanding and navigating the complexities of information creation and usage. One of its key components, "Information Creation as a Process," is particularly relevant when considering the integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in libraries. This component emphasizes that information creation is dynamic and varies by context, purpose, and audience. By integrating generative AI within libraries through this particular lens of the ACRL framework, users can be ably guided to navigate the evolving landscape of information creation.
This presentation will demonstrate the integration of Appreciative Inquiry principles through the application of gen AI tools like Wondera and Squibler to drive meaningful conversations about how information is produced through the dynamic interplay between information creation and AI-driven tools. This approach not only enhances information literacy but also prepares users to leverage AI tools responsibly and effectively in their academic and professional pursuits.
