Abstract

The Center for Construction Research & Training/NIOSH (Adhikari)
1/1/2017 - 12/31/2017: "Nanoparticle exposures and respiratory protection in construction jobsites".
Construction workers experience high rates of respiratory diseases and exposure to ultrafine dust including
silica nanoparticles could be an important etiological factor. Exposure levels of nanoparticles in construction
worksites are largely unknown and respiratory protection offered by commonly used N-95 respirators against
nanoparticles in construction jobsites were never evaluated. This CPWR Small Project will address these two
research issues by a multidisciplinary research team. Role: Principal Investigator.
