Abstract
Goals and Objectives: Childhood obesity is a serious public health challenge in America (Glickman et al, 2012). It is estimated that about 30 percent of children in North America are either overweight or obese while 15 percent are obese. This Study aims to investigate the Obesity of Children and Adolescents in USA in Relation to other Health and Environmental Conditions .
Theoretical Framework and Methodology/Data: The data analyzed in this study is from the 2011-2012 National Survey of Children’s Health (2011 NSCH). The 2011-2012 National Survey of Children’s Health involved national telephone interviews by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Health Statistics conducted between February 2011 and June 2012. The data was analyzed using SAS 9.4 (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA). There was one dependent variable and a total of 34 categorical independent variables. Univariate analysis was performed on all the variables using proc survey frequency while the model selection was carried out using proc survey logistics on significant variables
Educational/Field Significance: This topic is significant in most public health and health related fields. Proposed Significance/Outcomes: The analyses showed significant association between childhood obesity and other risk and health factors.
