Identifying what causes poverty in the U.S. - and, more importantly, how to respond to the 46.7 million Americans living below the poverty line - remains a hotly debated topic for our country. For instance, a large cohort of the nation believes that government institutions and associated social programs distort otherwise effective and accessible channels to social and financial mobility.
