Abstract

The responses of modified asphalt with crumb rubber (MACR) and activated crumb rubber (MAACR) to low-temperature plasma were measured and compared. After preparing the modified asphalts by a wet method at high shearing speed, the properties of MACR and MAACR samples with different proportions of rubber powder were analyzed. The results show that the blending of the asphalt and rubber was promoted by low-temperature plasma. Compared to MACR, MAACR exhibited better high- and low-temperature performance and temperature sensitivity. The optimal proportion of activated crumb rubber in MAACR was found to be 15%~20%.
