Abstract
The emphasis on career/college-readiness within PK-12 education continues to provide momentum for the creation of resources and interventions focusing on students’ career exploration and development. However, the impact of such interventions can be limited without a foundation securing these activities within a comprehensive school counseling program. Focus on what’s needed for creating a foundation conducive for career exploration within your school counseling program. Specifically, we will focus on four elements:
- Rationale: connecting to site/district and school counseling program mission
- Alignment: connecting with Common Core and ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors
- Delivery: incorporating into the school counseling program and an RTI structure
- Evaluation: starting with an end in mind as we collect, review and analyze data
