Abstract

Elementary math teachers must constantly reflect on their teaching practices, including what works, what doesn't, and how to better support students. This chapter is designed to help you do just that by highlighting key takeaways from the cases in the previous chapters. These takeaways focus on both the math content and the equity-related themes that influence students’ experiences in math class. Each case from Chapters 3–6 details a summary and key points for consideration. As you read through the takeaways, we encourage you to consider how these insights connect to your own classroom. While we suggest our key takeaways, we also invite you to come up with more ideas on your own and expand on the ideas to lead critical conversations about equity.
